Using the website 'Da Font' I have gathered a compilation of fonts which may appear upon my magazine.
For the masthead:
As previously mentioned, the two above mastheads are spelt with the French spelling 'ambiance' as opposed to 'ambience'. However, I have decided that if I use the font below I will use the English spelling due to the fact that having two of the below 'a's would appear as over the top.
I believe I am going to use the first font, 'Devil Breeze' for my masthead as I feel it looks urban and would therefore fit in with the genre of my magazine. I particularly like the way in which the 'm' and 'b' join together as this would appear as a very original logo which would stand out.
I am also going to use this font on my contents page as I want the masthead on this page to read 'A THIS WEEK' and I would like the 'A' to be in 'Devil Breeze' font to create a connection to the front cover and add a sense of structure.
For the main coverline:
The main coverline is going to be 'Elodie J', the name of a fictitious artist who is the main feature of my magazine.
I was originally considering one of the two above fonts for the main coverline. However, upon thinking about the masthead and the main coverline together I have decided that this may be overpowering and make the magazine look unprofessional. As a result, I then began looking for more plain fonts for the main coverline.
I believe I will use either InfraRed or Unbreakable for my main coverline.
I will use the one of the below fonts for some of the other coverlines as they are simple and would therefore not make the page appear as over crowded.
I will use the one of the below fonts for some of the other coverlines as they are simple and would therefore not make the page appear as over crowded.
I have decided upon Big Noodle Titling for the remaining coverlines, 'THIS WEEK' on the contents page and 'From a number one album to a break up with her long-term boyfriend - Our interviewer, Joy Osborne, met up with Elodie J to tell us more…' on the double page spread:
For the subheadings on the contents page I am going to use the same font as the masthead on the front cover, 'Devil Breeze'.
For the 'quote' beside each item on 'Elodie's picks' I would like to use the below font as it appears as handwritten and would therefore create a personal tone.
In conclusion, I am going to download the following fonts from DaFont (www.dafont.com):
- Devil Breeze
- InfraRed
- Big Noodle Titling
- The Only Exception
- Neou
- Basic Title Font
Apart from the above fonts I would like to use relatively plain and professional fonts which will already be installed onto my computer.
